About Us

The Center for Aging and Spirituality seeks continuing dialogue with all expressions of spirituality. Started in 1987 as a monthly reading group by Lutheran chaplains, the Center organized a multi-faith community outreach three years later in the area of aging and spirituality and began offering programs.

Presenters have included:

  • Thomas Cole, Ph.D., educator; author, The Journey of Life: A Cultural History of Aging in America

  • Melvin A. Kimble, Ph.D., educator; director of the Center for Aging, Religion and Spirituality, Lutheran Seminary; lifelong student of the late Dr. Viktor Frankl

  • Marty Richards, MSW, ACSW, care manager; counselor; affiliate assistant professor, University of Washington School of Social Work

Ecumenical and interfaith programs include:
